Consulting Services

Special Consulting Program
HALS has funds to provide consultant services (free of charge) to the public libraries within its boundaries. Subject specialists will provide on-site assistance to library staff, library board, etc. Consultation will be available in areas, such as collection development, public service, programming, administration, building programs, establishing a literacy program, and related areas. The consultants will provide written reports with their recommendations for each library with which they work. The request for a consultant must be in writing using the "Consultant Request Form." The request should be made at least one month before a site visit can be anticipated. Contact Meller Langford Allen at the HALS office for more information: 713.247.1925 or mlangfor@hpl.lib.tx.us

HALS system staff will also provide regular consultation support to the libraries by e-mail, phone, mail and on-site visits. One visit per library is planned annually with additional consultation visits scheduled by request.
