  • When onions start to sprout, they will keep longer if you peel them and store in the refrigerator or freezer.

  • To give hashbrowned potatoes a golden glow, just add a teaspoon or two of vinegar to the butter and potatoes in the skillet, and keep turning until they're crusty brown.

  • To water houseplants while on vacation, stand plants on bricks (stand bricks on foil), submerged in water in the tub. The bricks absorb water, keeping the plants happy.
